shoes1Maybe you've had this experience? You meet the perfect man or woman. You share the same interests and beliefs, you love being with them, and you can't imagine living without them. You decide to share a life, and a living space, thinking that it's the perfect solution. Well, this is where it really gets tricky!

Life looks rosy until suddenly his sports posters are glaring at your botanical prints across the bedroom. Your French Country armoire is elbowing his Early College/Thrift Store sofa in the living room. Your clothes are duking it out with his twenty-year-old Couple-fighting2skis in the closet, and your conditioner and his shampoo are vying for breathing space in the shower. Don't even get me started on shoes! Or golf clubs! How can you merge two sets of belongings without bloodshed?

Compromise is the key. And editing. And cooperation. Did I mention compromise? Okay, if you're the one who was there first, it may be difficult to give up control of "your" territory. Your ski stuff has always been in that self-storage-runnemede-nj smallcloset and you love that sofa (plus you got such a good deal on it). Blending belongings, especially when space is limited, requires that each person give up some things. I know, I know, but here's the good news - you don't have to get rid of your beloved stuff – you can store it!

A self-storage unit is a great way to keep all the things you love – that your significant other doesn't – without having to part with them. Plus, they'll be stored securely in a climate-controlled space for a minimal amount of money. And you can visit them any time you want!  Compromise is a key ingredient in every successful relationship, so you might as well get started now. Once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad. You can visit your stuff often and spend quality time with it. Then you can go home to a happy relationship and a nice uncluttered environment!

If you are reading this from Marysville, North Highlands, Oroville, or Red Bluff be sure to check out my favorite storage facility. They have the best staff and customer service!
